Contest: your chance to win a Japanese tasting kit

20 Mar 2019 in Contest

Add style to your home with a tin sake cup, chopsticks and rest!

According to connoisseurs, the taste of sake changes depending on the composition of the sake cup. Tin is reckoned to be one of the noblest materials because it softens the taste of sake.

Update: contest is now closed, results available below.

This month, we’re giving away a tin sake cup, offered by HOSHINOYA Karuizawa and crafted by Nousaku, a century-old manufacturer of cast metal products based in Takaoka City.

How does tin make sake taste better?

According to Nousaku, the fusel oil in sake is partly dissolved when it comes into contact with tin – rendering the taste milder and softer. What’s more, tin is known for its high ionization and antibacterial properties, which are said to maintain freshness. And, because tin has a neutral smell, you can savour the full flavour of the sake.

To complement this stylish sake cup, we’re also giving away a set of chopsticks and a glass chopstick rest. Enter now for your chance to win!

The contest is now over. Thank you to everyone who entered!

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the contest is Aiden Franck (from UK). Congratulations!
