What makes RISONARE Yatsugatake such a family-friendly ski resort?

It may be a prime destination for Japanese oenophiles, but Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Yatsugatake is also a leading ski resort.

Situated in the heart of wine country near Mt. Fuji, this family-friendly resort is just 2 hours by train from Tokyo and transforms into a ski centre for all the family once snow starts falling.

The good news is that you don’t need to travel with your mountain gear. As a guest of Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Yatsugatake, you can rent all your equipment for free, from skis and snowboards to beanies and boots.

Other pluses for guests?

The free shuttle buses, which links the train station to the hotel and on to the ski resorts. And if you’re staying with kids under 12, they’ll get complimentary lift passes for 2 nearby resorts: Fujimi Kougen, perfect for beginners, and Fujimi Panorama, suited to a wide range of abilities. Hoshino Resorts also runs a Junior Ski Academy to help children improve their skiing.

Back at the hotel, kids can further hone their winter sport skills on the Mini Ski Slope, a small hill piled with artificial snow inside the resort’s grounds. Even young children can play, sled or ski here, while you watch them from the terrace of one of the neighbouring restaurants.

For a complete change of scenery, head to Il Mare, the hotel’s tropical-themed indoor pool complete with big waves. Once again, kids are well catered for thanks to a water play area with fountains and slides aplenty.
